Rafter - Joy/Blank/Sorrow (2019)
i love punk. not like "punk" sounding music, but the spirit of punk! no rules, total freedom, rebel girl! it feels like the actual danger and transgressive reality of punk music only lasted a very short time and then became just another genre, another music style. to me, it seems like sampling/plundering is the next place that the punk spirit went. how brutal and revolutionary is it to just steal someone else's art and make it your own? ergo this album is wholly stolen - i took a big stack of vinyl and started chopping things up, sang over it and made new art out of the older art! it's pop! it's jazz! it's noise! it's magic!
